The Book Trout wishes a happy, healthy and more peaceful New Year to us all. I wish everyone the opportunity to kiss your family, hug your friends, walk your pets and find a slice of reading time today!

Rachel, Happy New Year to you as well! To all who have not had a chance to stop in at her shop (I was there a few weeks ago while visiting family in the Saratoga area, although you were not in that day!), it is a nice shop and I always find something interesting to pick up!
I wanted to let you know that I followed your advice exactly (although convincing me to read is hardly difficult!) and found an interesting item laying around. "The American Mercury Reader" (my copy is from Blakiston, 1944) has a n interesting combination of short stories, editorials, etc. that has been a refreshing read for me these past couple of days! Just completed "Hatrack", which was a story that got Mencken arrested in Boston (http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,729166-1,00.html for an interesting article).
Anyway, just wanted to share my best wishes for success in the New Year and offer up an interesting little tidbit!
